Worship is our response to the revelation of God. It doesn't necessarily have to involve music; however, music and the other arts are God’s artistic and creative gifts to us which can be used to express our adoration back to Him!
Our Worship philosophy is based on two passages in the Bible: 1) God is seeking worshippers who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth! (John 4:23-24) and 2) Worship is a lifestyle in which we present our whole beings to God daily as an offering of praise to Him, our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer.
Below, there are different opportunities to serve God and His church through the worship ministries here at First Baptist Bloomfield. Read on and prayerfully consider being used by God according to the gifts and talents He has given you!
If God has gifted you with the ability to sing or play any instrument and you desire to use your God-given talent for His glory during our Sunday services, please contact Pastor Daniel Elias by phone: 505-632-3335 or by email, or you are welcome to check us out by attending one of our rehearsals. Come and join us as we build God’s kingdom through praises!
Worship at the 8:15 Celebration
The celebration band is made up of a small group of singers and instrumentalists who lead God’s people in worship every Sunday at the 8:15 a.m. Celebration. It is comprised of a small vocal ensemble supported by a Rhythm section (drums, electric bass, guitars and keyboard/piano). We currently have a healthy rotation of singers and instrumentalists from week to week; however, we are always looking for new talent with a humble heart that is willing to be used for God’s purposes. Come and be part of the team that seeks to lift up Jesus through songs of praise!
Rehearsals are on Thursdays 6:15-7:45 pm in the Auditorium.
Worship at the 10:45 Celebration
The primary question is not, “Do you have a voice?” but “Do you have a song?” If you believe God has put a song of gratitude and praise in your heart and feel called to encourage others to find it, the ministry of the Celebration Choir is the place for you! Musically speaking, you need to be able to carry a tune and have sense of tempo (the ability of singing together with others). More importantly, we look for followers of Jesus who love the Lord and want to encourage others to express their love and praise to the One who is worthy of all praise! The Celebration Choir leads worship weekly at the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service. The choir season is typically September through December and January through May. They also present special seasonal outreach programs at Christmas, Easter and other times of the year.
Rehearsals are every Wednesday at 6:30-8:00 pm in the Music Room
If you play an orchestral instrument, we have a small ensemble of instrumentalists that accompany the congregational singing at the 10:45 a.m. Celebration. We meet on Wednesdays from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. to rehearse the weekly music. If you are interested in participating as part of this ensemble, please contact Pastor Daniel Elias at the church office at 505-632-3335.
Here at First Baptist Bloomfield, we believe in raising worshipers from an early age!
Singers For Jesus is a program for children in 1st through 6th grades which meets in the Music Room (next to the Auditorium) from 5:30 to 6:20pm. The program is held during the Fall months of September through December and the Winter-Spring season of January through April. If you have a child in this age group and would like for them to learn to worship Jesus, please contact the church office at 505-632-3335 or by email.
We have an active Handbell ministry that meets on Sundays from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m. in the Music Room. If you have rung before or would like to inquire further about the possibility, please contact the church office at 505-632-3335. (Must be able to read music).
At this time we do not have an organized drama group that meets regularly; however, we have a desire to encourage a team of actors who would use their artistic talents for Sunday dramatic presentations or special outreach events.
If you are interested in participating and believe God has entrusted you with the talent of acting please contact the church office at 505-632-3335 or by email.
As FBC moves forward with technology and incorporates it as a key element in worship, we need great technical minded individuals to help operate equipment. If God has given you experience and/or are interested in the areas of sound, lighting, computer (general/graphics), and video, we encourage you to serve! If you are interested, contact the church office at 505-632-3335 or by email.
If you want to serve God but you do not like to be in “the spot light” (performing), there is a whole array of odd jobs involved in putting together a special program/outreach. To mention a few: design and building of props, sewing costumes, stage management and crew, make-up, advertising, etc.
If you believe God can use you through any of the ministries mentioned above, please be an answer to prayer by contacting the church office at 505-632-3335 or by email.
